Growing up in an Air Force family, I got to experience different towns and environments. As young as I can remember, I've had a sensitivity to the way that various places felt—the character of a neighborhood, the way buildings related to one another, or how a particular space could make you feel. My imagination and capacity for problem solving were shaped just as much by everyday experiences: athletics, LEGOs, cartoons, video games—countless hours spent building, taking things apart, and imagining what they could become.

That cultivation eventually led me to study architecture at Columbia University, where I developed my innate gift for volumes and shapes in the studio while playing college football. Learning how to take an abstract idea and turn it into something habitable intrigued me. Every internship I worked and every studio I visited or resided in was an opportunity to feed my ambition.

As a college football player, discipline, adaptability, communication, leadership, and the importance of continually refining your craft were the foundation of my success. Football reinforced something I still carry with me today: individual responsibility contributes to collective strength, and meaningful progress is usually the result of consistent effort over time. Even the time I spent recovering from injuries was full of lessons—those challenging circumstances fueled the need to pay closer attention to my body, my mind, and my environment. This holistic way of thinking and seeing goes into everything I do today.
